On a board of {5-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{a-Spades} {5-Hearts} Negreanu called a check-raise All-In with {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} just to get shown {8-Spades}{6-Clubs} for the flopped Nuts by Michael Addamo. Very questionable call by DNegs, so early on in the tournament on this wet board.

At the end of the day, Alex Foxen held the chip lead with 10 players remaining, narrowly edging out Seth Davies and Michael Addamo.

Near the end of the night, Foxen eliminated Mikita Badziakouski when he went runner-runner to make quads. Badziakouski had flopped a set and turned a full house, but the river gave Foxen what he needed to win.

Behind Foxen, Seth Davies bagged up 896,000 thanks to a surge in the final level and the currently best poker tournament player in the world Michael Addamo is lurking in 3rd place with 822,000.

Seth Davies said after end of Day 1:

“Excellent ending. I went from having about 300,000 to 900,000 in the last hour, so yeah. I made some big hands, played some big pots, and it worked out great.”

The biggest boost to Davies’ stack came when he spiked an ace with ace-king against Bryn Kenney’s kings in the final level.

“It felt good”

“That was a big one, right. You know, that’s kind of the situation that happens a lot in tournaments. You get all in with ace-king and hopefully they have queens or jacks but he had kings this time. I spiked an ace, so that was a massive pot for me. It felt good.”

In addition to Alex Foxen and Seth Davies, Michael Addamo (822,000), Justin Bonomo (809,000), and Jake Schindler (628,000) advanced to Day 2.

Day 2 is set to begin on Tuesday, September 28, at 12 p.m. PT and registration remains open until the start of play.
