Who Is Max Kruse?
Max Kruse is currently a forward for German Bundesliga VfL Wolfsburg and has been playing poker for some time and with decent results.
He was capped 14 times for the German national football team and has four goals at international level. Although still playing at a high standard, he will not be playing in the FIFA World Cup in Qatar later this month.
It was reported that he lost his spot in the national team after losing €75,000 worth of poker winnings in a cab back in 2016 which later saw him fined €25,000 by his club.
VfL Wolfsburg also recently suspended Max Kruse from duty for reasons of “tardiness” and a “lack of identification” with the club.
Max Kruse the Poker Player
Max Kruse has been racking up live tournament scores for the last seven years. His record shows $294,293 in earnings with six final tables, five of them coming in WSOP events.
A decent record for sure, but with a €3.9 million salary these poker earnings aren’t going to be life changing. It’s going to take a WSOP Main Event final table or similar for that to happen.
He said after his win:
“I think this ranks pretty high. This is a completely different thing. I’ve been training for soccer my whole life and normally I play (poker) just for fun so it’s nice to know that I’m not that bad. Hopefully, it won’t be the last one (bracelet).”
“I can only play as a hobby right now because of my (soccer) career but we’ll see after my career if I continue playing more poker.”
We don’t know yet how good Max Kruse can become as a professional poker player once his football career ends but he certainly looks to have enough talent to give the life a go if he wants.
